Who are we?

Mestni mačjak was established in October 2016 by animal lovers, who make their mission to improve the situation of stray cats every day.

We rented a place in the heart of Kranj and renovated it with our own hands. This place now serves as a stopping station for cats that need their furever home. Because the money is always tight, the idea of ​​selling exclusive products from Slovenian artists and designers, as well as our own, came about. You can see our awesome products here, by purchasing any of them you will help us greatly with the veterinary costs (sterilisation / castrations, operations, FiV and FeLV test,...), food, rent and space maintenance. You are also welcome to see our merch in person and pet some fluffy cats while you’re there.

Mestni mačjak is a unique place, which can not be found anywhere else in Slovenia. A relaxed space that invites visitors to come by and maybe unexpectedly meet their new friend and offer him a forever home. Come around, we’ll be happy to see you!

Our mission

Primarily, we are working to improve the situation of homeless and stray cats.

Through our actions, we want to make people aware of the importance of sterilisation and castration and responsible pet ownership. We utopically wish for what every SPCA and shelter dealing with homeless and abandoned animals wishes for; that is to one day close our doors and stop working, because there would be nobody else who needed our help.

Therefore, it seems very important to us that people are aware that one individual, one shelter can not change the world. The world can only be changed if we work together and everybody does their best at contributing.
